DESCRIPTION:
Blue mao mao are a beautiful little fish that are great to eat. A sweep from 20-40cm long blue mao mao are most easily recognized by their electric blue colouring.

FEEDING HABITS & HABITAT:
Schools of blue mao mao are common on all North Island rocky shores. They are a planktonic feeder and as such they like a bit of current.
HUNTING TECHNIQUES:
Blue mao mao are an easy fish to spear and can be found in very shallow water. They are an aggressive feeder and love a bit of berley. If you smash a few kinas they are likely to be some of the first fish on the scene.
