DESCRIPTION:

One of the hardest fighting fish on the planet big, tropical trevallies guarantee gear-busting excitement.  The Giant Trevally (Caranx ignoblis) is the most common and may grow up to 1.7m in length.

FEEDING HABITS & HABITAT:

The larger fish will live on the reef in caves and on bommies where they eat virtually any bait fish on hand.  It is common to find big GTs right in the shallows particuarly in or around channels through a coral reef.

HUNTING TECHNIQUES:

If you don't have a big float and spare shafts don't even bother targeting these fish.  A slow approach will usually get you within range where the fun can really begin.
