Floatline and Breaking Strain
I am in the process of making my own floatline, one of those pvc tubes threaded with a inner string. From reading various posts on the internet some use spectra, dacron or monofilament. My question is what sort of breaking strength do you use for the floatline? Should it be more , equal or less then the line between the spear and the gun, where I use the 400kg black picasso line?
thanks,
Thies
Your floatline should always be stronger than your shooting line (so if something breaks you lose your spear not spear and gun). Get the smallest diameter pvc you can find as it adds considerable drag (I personally find the added drag of bungies or pvc lines much more of a pain than twisted rope floatlines particuarly when trying to dive deep) and gets all stretched and weird after shooting a decent fish.
Look here for more info on rigging.
Hope this helps
