Rob Allen Inflatable Floats
Hi Guys,
My name is Aaron and I live in California. I've just recieved your product which is the 11 liter inflatable RA Float several days ago and I was "kinda" baffled with a container of latex. My question to you is, "What is it? What's it for? and How do I pour it into a tiny valve???? Is it really necessary? and Lastly, how does it deflate? Right now, it doesn't want to deflate because of "some" black sticky tar like material inside is blocking the valve from the inside...... Could you please help explain this product, I would be gladly appreciated.... Thank you very much. By the way, I like it very much and it goes quite well with reef hunting here on the north coast!
Thanks,
Aaron
Hi Aaron,
I’m pleased you like it it’s a great product. The latex is what makes it airtight; presumably they put some in in the factory but it is suggested you put more in (if it’s staying up alright you probably don’t need to though). Also if you put a hole in it with a fish spine or spear or something you can re-seal it.
The valve is exactly the same as a normal tyre valve; you just push on it to deflate. By the sounds of things there is some latex blocking it so you should remove the shraeder valve (any tyre shop will have the tool) and jab a pencil or something in it to clear any obstructions.
The best way to get the latex in there is to get a thin bit of tubing, we use the 10mm rubber we make bungies out of, and stretch it over the valve stem and put a funnel in the other end. Then you need replace the shraeder valve, inflate it a bit (this prevents the sides sticking together), slosh it around and leave it to dry over night.
Hope this helps,
