Wetsuit Rash
Hi Matt,
I purchased a black dog earlier this year and it's probably the best investment I've ever made, so thanks for that.
- I've been getting this reaction of spots everytime I dive, I've been to the doctor and it's some kind of bacteria, it cleared up and I washed the suit with some dettol and more recently tried listerine. but it's come back.
It could well be something dodgy in the water but my question is..
Have you heard of divers coming out in itchy spots after a dive? and do you know the best way to hardcore wash the suit without ruining it?
I'm wondering if I have a reaction to the meatrial?
Any advise appreciated
cheers Adam
Hi Adam,
Your problem is not uncommon. The rash will be caused either by bacteria in the suit or is a reaction to the type of soap you’re using as lube. By the sounds of things your problem is the former.
The best thing you can do is wash your suit then let it dry inside out in the sun for a couple of hours then turn the other way and let the outside dry. The uv from the sun is likely to kill a lot of bacteria. Storing your suit dry is vital.
Probably the best thing to wash your suit in is napisan.
I think it is highly unlikely that you would be reacting to the material. If you think it is more a reaction than bacterial you should change the suit lube that you are using.
Hope this helps
